The idea that there are psychological effects from the microbiota may sound dicey, but I just took an online course on the human microbiome and there's good scientific evidence for it.
The U.S. budget now contains a $2 billion increase in funding for NIH.

I'm a retired cancer researcher, and have seen Phase I trials up close. Be careful what you wish for. Phase I trials are quite small and the data on toxicity is limited. I have heard first hand stories of people in biotech companies being pressured to list these "adverse events" as not drug...
Whew! Didn't know these posts were so controversial.
I am currently walking 2 flat miles every day in one go at a 3 mph pace, so it takes me about 40 minutes. I also cook, grocery shop in big stores, do quite a bit of serious photography, and go on road trips. This does not cause any symptoms...
Thanks so much Beth! May you find your road to health also. Believe me, if someone had told me last summer that I would be where I am now, I simply wouldn't have believed it.
Best wishes, Marilyn
Yes it absolutely qualifies. Most ME/CFS patients would kill to be able to walk 2 miles a day. I feel close to normal, but imagine 22 years of an extremely sedentary existence. That's a lot to overcome even if it were due to shear laziness rather than illness. So totally good that your symptoms...
Thanks for your thoughtful and well articulated reply, Cort. I agree that it could have been the antivirals, a concept that comes and goes in my thinking about my recovery. For whatever reason I was feeling a bit anti-anit-virals when I wrote that piece. I'll change it to reflect that those...
Thanks for the good wishes.
The antivirals didn't work. I have no theories as to why. Two of them were taken before the amygdala retraining and one during.
As to exercise, I am 61 years old and have been forced to be very sedentary for the last 20 years. So I'm not taking up running, a sport...
My "push comes to shove" situation mentioned above was as follows:
My husband and I decided to go to New Zealand. This was a risk, and I was (rightfully) quite worried about what shape I would be in once the plane landed. But I had wanted to go since before I got sick, and my husband and I...
This guy should not be leading this study. Period. He has very strong views which are poorly supported by fact, and dismisses data that don't fit with his views. In short, he is not a good scientist. I should know, I have a graduate degree from Stanford in biomedical research.
You're welcome. Any ideas for getting the word out are appreciated. I've posted to Phoenix Rising, ProHealth, Forgotten Plague on Facebook, and Healclick.
Please sign my peition, if you haven't already, to increase USA National Insittutes of Health Fudning for ME/CFS.

I am an ME/CFS patient just trying to make things happen post-IOM report. It's probably best if only...
