[/fright]Small fiber neuropathy (SFN) or pathology occurs when the small nerve fibers in the skin and eyes and perhaps other organs that transmit sensory and/or autonomic nervous system signals become damaged or lost.

Studies suggest that from 30-50% of people with fibromyalgia have fewer small nerve fibers than usual, and those that remain are smaller. It's possible that small nerve fiber neuropathy could be occurring in other parts of the body.
