Has anyone gone blind? I moved into a new apartment and within 5 months, I lost my vision and was crawling. Moved into hotel room with black out curtains for a month and then into a new apartment. My only lights were was from my electric toothbrush and the clock on my microwave. Listened to a lot of audio books. Eventually could Watch TV on red. After 1 1/2 years, I could turn on a lamp.
I am extremely sensitive to light, sound, and motion and pass out often. I am almost a total shut in but that is ok. I was blind but now I see, so I am very happy. Been sick 15 years. Had the flu and never worked another day in my life. Tested positive for HV6. Getting well seems impossible. Getting worse or getting better are both possible. Better is good enough.

I've not had this experience but am also sensitive to light, sound, and motion. I also had the flu around the time my brain fog started, in 2011, although my major crash came the next year.

My current approach (in addition to various medications): I've recently done an analysis of my diet on an app and have gotten into supplements to replenish vitamins and minerals that either I'm not eating enough of or that medications blocked for years. My health seems to be slowly improving in that way at the moment, although the approach is quite complicated and it's still too soon for me to be sure of the long-term effects. Like you, I assume I could get better or worse but am hoping for better!

If your symptoms came on suddenly after moving into a new home, I would suspect there was some environmental problem with the new home, perhaps water damage. Mold toxins are known to cause neuroinflammation (a likely cause of sensory hypersensitivity) and a loss of visual acuity.
