Treatment Protocol Brain Retraining

I am currently deciding which brain retraining program I want to try. I don't think DNRS or Primal trust as the former doesn't sound like what I need and the latter is too expensive. I also like a money back guarantee. I am thinking either Gupta or ANS rewire. For people that have tried either of these I just would like some more information as to what you actually do to retrain your nervous system in both programs. So far I have heard Gupta is heavy on meditation which I find difficult. I heard someone say that ans rewire is just telling your symptoms to "stop" which I find hard to believe. If you have the energy I would love to hear more details as I want to pick the right program as to not waste time and energy. Also, I know people have a lot of strong opinions about doing these programs but I would really like to hear from people that have actually done one or more of these programs and helpful details they can provide. Thanks in advance!

I’m currently on the Gupta programme. I chose it because it was rated as the best retraining programme on Health rising using a tool called the Furneaux method. That included its record of scientific evaluation. (more results have just been announced for effectiveness for fibromyalgia)

I instinctively knew it was the right programme for me, since I’d recovered from ME but got sick again seven years later - I realised that old saw"that which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger" hadn’t happened for me. Anxiety and fatigue were the worst symptoms for me so I embarked on therapy. That taught me that I had some deep rooted issues that were getting in the way of recovery.
Ashok Gupta is fully committed to the programme and it is multi-faceted because everyone’s experience is different. He does a webinar every week which is full of insight into the various tools used in the programme.
The meditation is guided meditation so you’re not sitting with nothing (although you can be if you want to be).
You will need to be prepared for a long learning curve as you learn to adapt the strategies to yourself. Lots of help every day online from the coaches who will work one to one or in small groups. You’ll incur extra fees if you want the 1 to 1 or small groups though.
I’ve certainly experienced recovery - my resting heart rate has dropped significantly. My fatigue has turned into a gentle constant hum which is teaching me to rest and restore. And my perspective on what caused my illness and what’s helping me heal has changed massively.

That’s my experience though - I knew it would help me before I started and it hasn’t disappointed unlike all the things I’ve tried before. But you do you.

Hi, I am also interested to hear what others say about this subject. I did Gupta for about a year. I already meditated a lot so that wasn't a problem for me. He does some other techniques based on NLP, looks at personality characteristics and thought patterns that are stressful. Its well organised and professional. I cannot say it has cured me but it was helpful. I am a psychologist and i think its a well rounded programme to support good mental health and to alleviate anxiety. there are some studies for Fibro that support the programme.

Huh. I've only heard about PRT, Pain Reprocessing Therapy. There are some YouTube videos (so many YouTube videos!). I like the idea of a program rather than trying to doing it on my own, but they all seem to be beyond my budget.

I think this is insightful - that you knew it would help even before you began. I have heard a couple of other people who tried this saying it really helped their anxiety. Are there other sorts of root issues addressed? Or is anxiety the big one?

I’ve been using the Gupta program for just over a year now, and it’s been incredibly helpful. The program does address root issues of “parts” (such as perfectionist, helper, worried, and many others) that relate to patterns which can affect health. The “parts” information and retraining has been incredibly helpful, as traits that I have always embraced are a huge part of what got me into a very severe ME/CFS crash (completely bedridden, no lights, no noise for over a year).

In addition, the brain retraining part of the program has been a tremendous help. My autonomic nervous system and calmed down significantly. And you don’t have to do the program perfectly to see results, you just have to be consistent.

Other than taking Amitriptyline to prevent migraines, the only thing I’ve done to help improve my health is use the Gupta program. I’ve regained enough health that I’m able to drive again, cook dinner for my family, and walk short distances.

The Gupta program has taught me how to be much more in tune with my mind and body so that I can keep from crashing hard. I still have dips in my health (like this last week when I watch my son & his team play in the tennis championships - very hot, no shade, and high emotions). Before Gupta, that kind of activity would have been impossible, or caused a severe crash. But with the Gupta program, I only needed to have a quieter day at home the next day before getting back to baseline.

It’s definitely a journey - not an overnight miracle cure. And in talking with others who also use the program, some people respond fasters and others take more time to see improvements.

If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
