If ME/CFS patients tend to overutilise the lactate dehydrogenase pathway, rather than the pyruvate pathway, might it be useful to employ some lactate dehydrogenase inhibitors?
https://www.hindawi.com/journals/jar/2016/2497348/
There are many natural lactate dehydrogenase inhibitors available according to the table in the following paper. I wonder if this strategy, perhaps combined with something like dichloroacetate, would be enough to push the body back in the direction of utilizing the mitochondria. Either that or it would simply rob the body of all sources of energy to our detriment. Hard to know. Anyone have any experience with these herbs?

There is accumulating evidence to suggest that abnormally high lactate levels and intracellular acidosis exhibited in patients with CFS/ME are the result of impaired mitochondrial function [61, 63]. For example, CFS/ME patients exhibit profound and sustained intracellular acidosis of the peripheral musculature following relatively low-level exercise. This results in a decreased anaerobic threshold (AT) due to an overutilisation of the lactate dehydrogenase pathway [15, 41].
