One of the biggest problems in studying brain diseases is that it is impossible to get a brain biopsy from a living subject...but Johns Hopkins researchers have found a way around that. In studying Huntington's disease, they managed to create a de facto brain biopsy from skin cells.

I know we are all supposed to be excited about the Naviaux study, but honestly, I read things like that and then I read about doing brain biopsies on living individuals and I wonder WHY AREN'T WE USING THESE TECHNIQUES TO STUDY MECFS?? Why aren't we trying some of these new drug therapies based on small molecules that are showing efficacy in other brain disorders?

Why are we still arguing about the name and MECFS maybe/maybe not biomarkers rather than aggressively studying it with materials and methods that are already available?
