Novartis is discontinuing Famvir in the US.

Wonder if any of the Indian companies make a generic? I'm thinking I always got the brand name from the pharmacy here...

Whoa - that's the drug Dr. Pridgen uses; I wonder if that puts a big wrench in his plans?... less drug availability is not a good thing. I don't know how you found that - that's apparently the only place it discusses it.

I hope not. There do seem to be a bunch of generics floating around so hopefully one of those can be used instead.

He's going to need it in a special formulation - actually I think the pills have already been made so it's probably all good.

bumping up this thread... now that the brand name of famvir is discontinued (http://www.empr.com/news/antiviral-agent-no-longer-available/article/547005/), i have found that the generic of famvir is still available. however, i do not tolerate the generic. has anyone found anywhere to buy the BRAND NAME of famvir? thanks for your help!
