super soft earplugs for sensitive ears

I've been testing some earplugs and ear mufflers because sound sensitivity is one of my most debilitating symptoms. :headphone: I always wonder if I could be slightly more active if it wasn't for all the noise that is literally everywhere. I'm talking about being around people, or preparing food while someone else is doing something else in the kitchen. Without noise control this is virtually impossible for me.

Ear mufflers are not an option because of my sensitivity to any kind of pressure on my skin (clothing, make up, ear rings). With ear plugs I have had the same problem in the past, too much pressure. Until I found Alpine Sleepsoft earplugs. They are made out of super thin silicone and are very comfortable. They are designed for sleep, that's why I guess they are so soft.

When I wear them, I can still listen in on conversations, hear the phone ringing, etc. Small chores in the kitchen aren't that big of a problem anymore with someone else there doing something else. Eating with earplugs is impossible though, because the crunching that goes on inside your mouth is deafening! :bawling:

I'm like you in that I can't stand anything on my skin, although I can wear light earrings and a necklace.

But even looking at thise freaks me out and makes my ears winge. Lol. I could never wear those.

they are a lot softer than they look on the picture... but I understand that even the softest beyond soft can cause too much pressure on the skin. Like how I can't lay down wearing a winter hat cause that thin extra layer of fabric hurts my neck. gotta love it. :stop: :hurting:

I struggled with any kind of off-the-shelf ear plug. The inside of my ears seems to be super small and they wouldn't stay in, however soft they were.

At one point I felt that any noise was beginning to drive me mad and had to find something. Even the ticking of a clock would grate!

In the end I had a pair made especially. They weren't as expensive as I thought they might be and considering how long they have lasted (3 years so far) they have been very cost effective.

Your local hearing specialist can probably make you a pair.

@bobby - I'm glad you found a make/type that works for you. I know what a godsend they can be.

do they still fit? I read somewhere that your ears keep changing and that you have to have them remade every year or two... Or that might have just been a sales trick...

I heard that too, but my ears don't seem to have changed :)
