Dr. Natelson found that about 20% of people with chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) hyperventilate or take rapid, shallow breaths when they stand. (A small percentage may hyperventilate when they lie down as well.)

I think there’s a typo. It should read “Repeat the test but this time breathe into a paper bag”.
