Cancer on top of ME/CFS

Dear Friends,
This summer I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It has been devastating.

I can't help but wonder if my having COVID19 acutely 12 times and Long COVID for a year and 3 months may have weakened my immune system in some way. Cancer does not run in my family at all.

My Long COVID symptoms finally resolved when I moved out of my apartment. It had developed a mold problem. So I was homeless and looking for a new place to live when this diagnosis happened. IIf you know me you know I am an extreme mold avoider, so that makes finding a living place challenging. I have been forced to stay in a series of hotels that bother my environmental sensitivities, because I am out of hotels that agree with me in my hometown.

First the doctors wanted me to do chemo. That didn't go very well. It made me extremely sick. The amount of chemo I could tolerate was so small that the doctor felt it wouldn't do anything to shrink the tumor. I guess it just annoyed the tumor a little bit.

Next they sent me to radiation therapy. It also makes me very sick. I have only been sleeping 2-4 hours a night on most nights, because of the hotels bothering me. I feel like my life has turned into a nightmare.

But I finally found an apartment that might work, and I am going to move in next week. I am also going to see a local alternative doctor and try to get some mistletoe shots. They supposedly improve a patient's quality of life and don't conflict with any of the conventional treatments. Maybe things will start getting better.

At this point, I still don't know if I will live or die. It is a horrible situation to be in. I really miss the days when I only had ME/CFS.

I really hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Hi Forebearance, Sorry about your situation. I took a look, as I hadn't heard about such a connection, and found this article. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-92068-4 I already knew that covid could induce a wide range of diseases but was still surprised that pancreatic cancer is actually the most common form of cancer which it can result in.

Just sorry that I can't find any other articles connecting the dots; even tried google scholar but came up empty.

Glenn, I agree. There is usually so much overlap in these situations because of oxidative stress induced by the virus, or other causes. Understanding why the pancreas, specifically, seems to be a target for covid induced cancer stumps me though. The research detailed in this article is out of the area of my previous study. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7550073/

Oh Fore, I just checked in here to post a topic and find this terrible news...So so sorry my dear and I feel like I've known you for many years. It would be great if the Miseltoe does some good.

I do tapping and affirmations daily for myself, my daughter and I'll mention you now and never know, good energy ... jam xo

You sure have had a hard hard time with this covid stuff.

I've been talking about Grape Seed Extract or Pycnogenol for over 25 yrs and we were told it MAY prevent cancers at a lecture back in 1995 and I've taken it every day since. Saving Me??? Maybe, I hope so.

I agree with jaminhealth about the grape seed and pycnogenol; I used them myself when I had cancer. The surgeons hated me because my blood showed no evidence of a malignant tumor. I was also told about the Gerson therapy diet and institute. There are lots of online sites which you can search for information regarding their organic vegetable juicing and other treatments. I used a combination of their advice on surgical removal of the initial tumor, combined with the dietary factors. I have heard/read about many people who have successfully employed only the dietary factors only to have the cancer return because of the initial tumor.

You used them when you had cancer? You didn't take them as a prevention, that is what I have been doing for decades. Prevention. I do my healing work for Forebearance and hope hope hope she wins.

I have used them in both roles. I used them during the time after being diagnosed with the cancer, in order to reduce the oxidative stress associated with cancer, and then for years afterward in order to keep that oxidative stress down. The pycnogenol is also able to induce apoptosis in some forms of cancer, so helping to deal with the condition. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4285957/ I have heard of people successfully beating cancer using pycnogenol alone however each case I heard about resulted in a later, more aggressive, cancer outbreak. That is why I favor the Gerson therapy, involving removal of the initial tumor and use of healthy organic vegetable juicing and oils for providing nutrition to the diseased cells.

Dear Forbearance,

I haven't been visiting HR for a while, but did so today, and am so sorry to hear about your circumstances. I wish you all the best as you settle into your new apt., and find ways to address your myriad of issues.

I've been doing a lot of research and experimenting lately on nebulizing all kinds of substances, such as hydrogen peroxide, glutathione, colloidal silver, iodine, NAC, etc. I ran across one video by a man who made dramatic health improvements from his severe mold issues by nebulizing very diluted hydrogen peroxide.

In case you're interested, below is a link to the video. I started it toward the end where you can see his appearance before and after he restored his health. The difference is really pretty dramatic.

Thank you SO MUCH Not Ded Yet, Baz493, Glenn and Wayne!
I really appreciate the links.
Wow, Baz, that article connecting COVID-19 and pancreatic cancer is really interesting. And sad!
You probably remember, Jam, that I took grapeseed extract for many years. i can barely take any supplements now, because my ability to digest is impaired.
Thank you for the hydrogen peroxide nebulizer link, Wayne.

I am in my new apartment now and it seems okay so far. Whew. But I am really sick. A month after I finished radiation treatments I am stilll waiting for the after-effects to diminish. It has pushed my cfs symptoms from moderate to severe. I am stuck in bed except for using the bathroom and taking a shower. It really sucks.

It also caused a gastric bleed, which was scary. I had to go to the ER and have the lining of my stomach ablated with lasers. The stomach is so close to the pancreas that it got affected by the radiation.

I have told my cancer docs that I can't handle any more chemo and radiation. They suggested I sign up for hospice. Geez. So all that is left is to try the alternative treatments like diet etc. I still haven't gotten well enough to go see the alternative practitioner.

Love you guys.

Forebearance, Sorry to hear that the health system has let you down so badly. You're not alone. My own work exposures may have destroyed my health but it took the Australian health system, which had never heard of the dangers involved in the toxic exposures I experienced and which refused to listen, to destroy my life and reputation afterward. I'm fighting to just try to recover my reputation and have been advised to do absolutely nothing to try to fix my health until I receive some form of acknowledgement of what appears will be eventually diagnosed as Parkinson's disease resulting from those exposures.

Anyway, your symptoms sound like you would be best off using a similar diet and lifestyle to that used in mast cell activation syndrome. Mast cells play a significant role in the pathogenesis and symptoms of cancer and are going to induce reactions to a variety of foods. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21287360/ https://ibsguthealthclinic.co.uk/mcas-diet-mast-cell-activation-syndrome/

Thank you, Baz493.

One interesting thing I have noticed.... I am able to sense mold toxins on objects. The surfaces where cancer patients sit and lie to receive chemo and radiation treatments are absolutely coated with mold toxins. It is really gross. No amount of sanitizing removes them, apparently.

Decades ago, following a work exposure to a solvent called trichloroethylene, I found that I had a malignant tumor (in a location guys just don't want one). I found that anything which increased the toxicity within my body always set off an unpleasant musky scent in my nose, as though I were smelling some gas which exuded from my own body. I'm not sure whether this relates to your own sense of mold toxins but it always helped me to reduce exposures to things which aggravated my condition. It also helped me to measure the value of measures which I was taking to try to reverse the cancer using my diet. I used to have to do my best to keep my mobile phone away from myself, as that always seemed to aggravate the scent. Of course, that was back in the early days of mobile phones when radiant emissions from them were generally higher.

Researchers, it seems, have a really good idea of how covid induces a wide range of further health issues. The body uses a pair of lipids, called 25-hydroxycholesterol and 27-hydroxycholesterol, to try to resist viruses like covid. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4265783/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7431750/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7416714/ The trouble with this is that both lipids trigger inflammatory reactions connected to the development of cancer and other disease. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6443809/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4098728/ https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0016631 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7404106/

ME has been linked by many medical researchers to function of the thyroid gland and this may well be the crucial involvement with covid. https://www.sciencealert.com/we-jus...ndrome-thyroid-myalgic-encephalomyelitisCovid is known to affect thyroid gland health and function. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33241508/ So the connection between 27-hydroxycholesterol and thyroid cancer has to raise questions regarding whether this is the connection to the development of ME. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-46727-2 The body often uses a wide range of diseases to try to offset the development of cancer. This relates to the production of enzymes, proteins, and antibodies, which doctors interpret to be dangerous but which are actually trying to protect the body from worse damage. My own PL-7 antibodies have been trying to protect me from hypoxia induced complication of respiratory failure. If I trusted the experts they would suppress the antibodies, with corticosteroids, and increase my cancer risk. So it seems likely that the body attempts to use hypothyroidism to try to prevent the development of thyroid cancer resulting from covid. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32180570/ https://jnnp.bmj.com/content/92/8/911

Forebearance, I remember your name from the PR board. Do you remember me?

I am sorry to hear about this news!

How did you get Covid 12 times!?

I did hear that covid can attack pancreatic cells somehow.

Considering FMT (fecal microbial transplants) have been shown to help covid, long covid, me/cfs, and is now in trials for pancreatic cancer, I wonder if you might consider trying this....if so, perhaps I can help:)
