Found this concerning though:

The interim results of the study, announced in late 2013, met the FDA goals, according to the company.

The FDA approval includes requirements for post-marketing research, including a heart outcomes trial to look at any heart and stroke risks. The company must also look at the potential for interactions between Contrave and other drugs, evaluate the best dose for patients with liver or kidney problems, look at the safety of the drug in children, and do other research.

I don't have any liver or kidney problems, but do have high blood pressure.

I looked at Contrave too a while ago...and ultimately decided against it for several reasons.

First of all, the naltrexone dose is 32 mg. That's in contrast to a top dose of usually 4.5 mg for LDN. I don't think we can assume 32 mg of naltrexone will work the same way that LDN does. Maybe it will still have some of the anti-inflammatory benefits that come from blocking TLR4 though. But I doubt you will get the endorphin blockade/creation effects.

It's a big dose of buproprion too. Typically people start with 150 mg and this starts at 360 mg.

I also didn't find the results all that encouraging in terms of weight lost...5% of body weight doesn't mean much to me, especially in terms of the side effect profile of those drugs and how poorly I've done on antidepressants in the past. I've never taken buproprion though and it might be different than an SSRI/SSNRI.

If you do decide to try it, I hope you will report back and let us all know how it works for you! I do think it's an interesting combination. I just hope it's also safe and effective.

Well my specialist for my CFS and Fibro will not prescribe it. Don't think my PCP office will prescribe it either, they said you have to be 40% above BMI, glad I'm not that huge :)

I am just over the 40 bmi so I might pursue it with my pcp for now and see how it goes. I really blame the abilify for making me gain the last 53 pounds though. :/

For weight loss, you could try the potato hack: http://vegetablepharm.blogspot.com/ [Tim Steele] It's ridiculously easy to do - you just eat potatoes. Tim's very thorough and entertaining book just came out on Amazon if you don't want to sort through his blog.
