Here's a nice matrix from the makers of the DUTCH test on the pros and cons of blood, saliva and urine testing for the various hormones. I have a document that goes into a little more detail too, if anyone is interested.
It's unfortunate that this comes from a company selling a test in the market (and thus cannot be said to be unbiased) but I find the information consistent with my extensive experience testing hormones in all three fluids.
FWIW, I think this test is the best thing going right now for cortisol and sex hormone testing. Unfortunately, it's also the most expensive ($399).
