ME Research in Canada: More on the BIG News this Past Week!
Yes, you heard that right. For those of you who’ve missed the Breaking News – research into ME was published this past week in Canada!
Wilfred de Vega, PhD candidate at U of T, found a huge difference in the DNA of those with ME compared to healthy people. These differences clearly affect immune cell function and are also implicated in the HPA axis dysfunction in those with ME.
This research mutually validates recent results by Naviaux and Davis pointing to impairment in cellular energy production.
Will shared his exciting research results with us in this interview during our Live ‘Sick-In’ Protest outside Health Canada in October. Now that his paper has been published, we can release this film clip. Will has a brilliant mind and a million dollar smile, as you’ll see in the video!
Much thanks from the ME community to Will de Vega, S. Herrera, Suzanne Vernon and Patrick McGowan from McGowan Lab, University of Toronto. We’re looking forward to future studies!
Abstract: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28231836
